BIT-BY-BIT EQUESTRIAN CENTER
About Our Horse Farm
OUR PHILOSOPHY
It is our belief that being an equestrian
promotes life skills such as responsibility
and integrity. We empower riders to improve
their horses' abilities and achieve harmony
with their mount. Building their technical
skills and confidence, will enable both the
horse and rider to achieve in schooling or
open competition.
Melissa has always been an equine enthusiast. As a child she
competed in 4-H and Penn Jersey in hunters. Melissa graduated
from IUP with a B.S. in Education and was a member of their
intercollegiate riding team.
Melissa began instructing and training at Bit-By-Bit in 1996. In
2005 she was promoted to facility manager and head trainer. She
holds a Level II American Riding Instructors Association
Certification in Dressage and Hunt Seat.
Currently, Melissa competes in the ESDCTA and the USDF having
earned both individual and team championship awards including:
-Bronze Medal from United States Dressage Federation 2008
-2008 ESDCTA Championships 4th Place at Third Level
-Silver Medal from Eastern States Dressage and Combined
Training Association, 2007
-Bronze Medal from Eastern States Dressage and Combined
Training Association, 2006

-Second Level Champion at Bucks County Horse Park, 2006
-BLM Dressage Championships 2004 and 2005, placed 7th
-Awarded USDF Performance Certificate, Training Level on

In addition, she attended the "L" Dressage Judge training
program conducted by the USDF in 2008. Melissa and her horse
Renodje, have been in training with Gabriel and Suzanne
Armando. Gabriel is an international dressage judge and Pan
American Games competitor and Suzanne an FEI trainer. Melissa
has taken Dressage Clinics with: Anne Gribbons, Lendon Gray
and Peter Hansen.
Her philosophy of partnership with the horse is echoed in some
of her students achievements. From 2005, to 2008, nine of her
students earned year end awards at the Bucks County Horse
Park. In 2007, seven students earned ESDCTA year end awards
and three the special distinction of their Bronze Medal. At the 2008
ESDCTA Championships four students placed in the top six.
